This great beach with powder-soft white sand and shallow, crystal clear waters lies just a few steps away from Iris Beach Hotel. It is the most popular beach in the area of Monemvasia with an incredible view of the fortified city while there is also a beach bar with sun loungers and umbrellas.
It is one of the longest beaches in Peloponnese with a 2km stretch of sand, 45m wide. Its orientation is southeast. It has an incredible view of the fortified town of Monemvasia. It is organized with shallow crystal waters and powder-white sand suitable for families. Wooden corridors facilitate the access of the bathers to the sea.
This long sandy beach, only 7km from Monemvasia, is well protected from north and etesian winds. Its knee-deep blue crystal waters are ideal for families.
A small opening tucked away on the south side of the walls right at the bottom of the fortress leads to the pretty little cove of Portelo, that once served as the fortress’ supply port. It was also the only place Monemvasiots could go swimming.
Simos beach is a lovely beach with thin pebbles and sand hills that reach up to 10m; a forest spreads around both beaches and creates a lovely scenery. The waters are blue-green and the dunes offer natural shade.
